The role and position of the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine in countering Russia's armed aggression and the state of interaction between the border agency and the EU Advisory Mission were the key topics discussed during the meeting between the leadership of the State Border Guard Service and the EEAS, which oversees the EU's external relations, security, and defense policy.

Major General Volodymyr Nikiforenko, the First Deputy Head of the State Border Guard Service, drew attention to the fact that despite the involvement of border guards in countering enemy aggression in the hottest spots, the efficiency of the border agency is not diminished across all sections of the Ukrainian border:

"Today, we are focusing special attention on countering current challenges that will inevitably arise after the end of the war. Specifically, this involves the illegal circulation of weapons and preventing its entry beyond the borders, including to EU member countries."

In response, Cosmin Dobran, the Director of the Directorate for Peace, Partnership, and Crisis Situations at EEAS, noted that European partners of Ukraine must have a clear understanding of the situation in Ukraine to use support resources as rationally as possible and, in the future, increase them.

Volodymyr Nikiforenko acknowledged the high level of interaction between the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine and the EU Advisory Mission, providing an effective means of implementing the goals of the state policy on European integration.

The State Border Guard Service of Ukraine fully supports the need for further cooperation with the EU Advisory Mission in the implementation of the Integrated Border Management Strategy, meeting the criteria for EU accession, adapting legislation, personnel training, and institutional capacity development.

Joint and effective efforts will contribute to the introduction of European standards for integrated border management, the construction of reliably protected borders, and the strengthening of security in the European region.
